|
THE COMPETITION Organized by the Digital Festival Tahiti 2019 in collaboration with La Polynesienne des Eaux & SUEZ Smart Solutions, and placed under the High Patronage of the President of French Polynesia, the Tech4Islands Awards competition aims to identify international technological pearls that offer innovative solutions to the challenges of island territories, around 4 themes: Smart Tourism, Blue Economy, Circular Economy and Public Innovation.
THE PROBLEM Faced with the constraints of their insularity and the climate change of which they are the first victims, islands must invent new models of intelligent, enterprising, efficient and inclusive societies that create new jobs and sustainable, innovative and inclusive development. These are the foundations of the so-called "Smart Islands" dynamic.
OBJECTIVE OF THE COMPETITION Make French Polynesia the hub for positive and sustainable innovation in the heart of Oceania, as well as encourage the international deployment of Tech for Good. As the initiator of this new "Tech4Islands" concept, the Digital Festival Tahiti wishes to be part of the world as a driving force for high value-added initiatives for island territories. This is why it is launching the very first edition of the Tech4Islands Awards competition, with prizes designed to encourage the winners to develop their solutions on the scale of island territories, with a potential capacity to set up in Polynesia, a land of Smart Islands innovation. |
SMART TOURISM Enhancement of cultural and natural heritage at the international level by using technologies to contribute to the notoriety of the territories while being part of a sustainable approach. |
BLUE ECONOMY Optimize the management of maritime resources and improve the collection of data on climate change in order to initiate innovative ocean protection projects. |
|
CIRCULAR ECONOMY Reinforce production autonomy through the rational use of our resources, improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. |
PUBLIC INNOVATION Facilitate access to digital technology, improve services to people through the dematerialization of exchanges and share data (Open Data) to help open up island territories. |
