
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Oceanic Engineering Society (OES), presented Brest Metropole with the Institute Award for organizing Sea Tech Week. This major event on marine science and technology, which takes place every two years in Brest, was held from 8 to 12 October and the theme of marine bio-resources brought together nearly 1000 international participants.
Rémi Garello, Professor at the Institut Mines Télécom Atlantique (IMT-A) and former President of the IEEE OES, presented this award to Michel Gourtay, Vice-President in charge of the economy in Brest Metropole. The ceremony was held on 21 november 2018 at the city's premises in the presence of Rebecca Fagot-Oukkache and Eric Vanden-Broucke, respectively Vice-President in charge of Higher Education and Research and Director of Economic and International Development in the city, and Sea Tech Week organizers.
