      • 12 projects, 86 teammates, participants from all over the word… an outstanding 3rd edition for Ocean Hackathon!

      • Organised by CMM members

      • 12 projects, 86 teammates, participants from all over the word… an outstanding 3rd edition for Ocean Hackathon!
      • These data are accessible thanks to the strong involvement of the Campus mondial de la mer community players including Ifremer (French research institute for ocean activities), Shom (French hydrographic and oceanographic center), IUEM (Marine Science Institute), Météo France…

The two first editions organized in 2016 and 2017 attracted 60 and 80 participants. In 2018, Ocean Hackathon confirmed its dynamism with 86 teammates who worked on 12 projects on very diverse thematics: detection and avoidance of unidentified floating objects, real time nautical events follow-up, real time satellites observation and visualization of what they see, status of the ocean reality to give a meaning to scientific results, shark monitoring, algae identification from your smartphone…

Focus on the “Take cover” project

Depending on its dimensions and security equipment, a ship is allowed to sail in a specific area. This area also depends on meteorological conditions.

The “Take over” project, held by the Shom (French hydrographic and oceanographic center) and the French Maritime affairs, aims at developing a software which will demarcate this area in real time. Within Ocean Hackathon was developed a prototype and the objective is now to find testers.

        Ocean Hackathon is now international!

In 2018, participants came from Canada, the United-Kingdom, Ireland and Belgium. It shows the international attractiveness gained by Ocean Hackathon since its creation in 2016.

        See you next year!
